Tour Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your dedicated safari guide and escorted to your hotel. Take time to settle in, relax, and enjoy Rwanda’s renowned hospitality as you recover from your journey. Later, your guide will provide a detailed briefing about the exciting adventures ahead, ensuring you are well prepared and ready for the unforgettable safari experience that awaits

Your day begins with an early 6:00 AM pick-up from your Kigali hotel. After breakfast en route, enjoy the scenic drive east to Akagera National Park (approximately 2.5–3 hours). Upon arrival, embark on an exciting game drive across the park’s savannahs, spotting elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and other wildlife. In the afternoon, take a relaxing boat safari on Lake Ihema to see hippos and a variety of birds. In the evening, enjoy dinner at your lodge and spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

After breakfast, enjoy a half-day morning game drive in Akagera National Park, where you’ll have the chance to spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and other wildlife across the scenic savannah. After lunch, begin the drive to Volcanoes National Park (approximately 6–7 hours), passing Rwanda’s beautiful hills and local villages. You will arrive in the evening, ready for your upcoming gorilla and golden monkey trekking adventures.

Start your morning with an early breakfast before heading to the Kinigi headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing. Join a small group with expert rangers and hike through the lush volcanic rainforest in search of the majestic mountain gorillas. Spend a magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, visit the vibrant Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you’ll enjoy traditional music, dance, and an authentic cultural experience. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, depart for the Kinigi Park Headquarters to begin your Golden Monkey Trek in Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy a rewarding experience as you observe these playful and energetic monkeys jumping through the bamboo forest. After the trek, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Fund, where you will learn about Rwanda’s conservation efforts and the protection of endangered wildlife. Enjoy lunch before starting the drive back to Kigali through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills and local villages. If time allows, enjoy a short Kigali city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Your safari concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Kigali or at Kigali International Airport.
