Trekking Experience:
  • Start Time: Treks typically commence early in the morning, around 5:00 AM, from the Uwinka Visitor Center or the Cyamudongo area.

  • Duration: The trek can last between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the chimpanzee groups and the difficulty of the terrain.

Booking and Permits:

A permit is required for chimpanzee trekking, costing approximately USD 90 per person. It's advisable to book permits in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, to ensure availability.

What to Bring:
  • Clothing: Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants to protect against insects and thorny vegetation.

  • Footwear: Sturdy hiking boots with good traction are recommended due to the sometimes slippery and uneven terrain.

  • Rain Gear: The region's weather can be unpredictable, so carrying a lightweight rain jacket is advisable.

  • Water and Snacks: Bring sufficient water and light snacks to maintain energy during the trek.
